A Leadership Residency Story from Albania

Denis (left) and Daniel (right) embark on a new leadership residency in Albania.

This is Daniel. He’s a NewThing leadership resident in Albania.

My friend Denis is a lead pastor of a new church plant. He doesn’t have a lot of resources and he’s very busy leading his church.

But he does have a passion for the Kingdom and a desire to see the Jesus movement flourish in the Balkans. He understands that to see that happen will require his personal investment in new leaders. That’s why Denis is apprenticing Daniel and will help him plant a new church.

Denis wrote this:

We are enthusiastic to share with you that since this week we start the residency program in our church and network. We will host a young student in our church, he is student which I led to Christ and is moving to live in the Church and be together in life and ministry. I think that this i a good opportunity on the next 12 months to impart all of what God has done in my life in to His life for God’s Mission and Kingdom and His Church.

Daniel is the future of the church. We need to identify, equip and send as many Daniel’s as we can find.

I am grateful for the ethos of residency at NewThing. It’s out intentional effort to invest in the next generation of leaders. All of us at every church MUST invest in people like Daniel.

Do me a favor and PRAY for Daniel and Denis as they embark on this journey together.

And if you want to know more about how you can help Denis and Daniel plant a new church, please contact me.

NewThing Leadership Training Center – Residency

I was sitting in our Leadership Training Center the other night listening to our residents talk of their dreams to start new things for the Kingdom.

These residents are being called to plant churches in places as close as Chicago and as far away as China. I love that they’re dreaming big things for the Kingdom.

The dreams of church planters are special. They’re dreaming of helping people; they’re dreaming of bringing the Kingdom to earth. You might say, the dreams of church planters have eternal significance.

When a new church is planted, people’s pasts will be redeemed, presents will have purpose and futures will have hope. A new church plant is a place where people find God and then pursue His mission in the world. Everything gets better in a community when a new church is planted.

I am so grateful to have this front-row seat to seeing what God can do through church planters. I am grateful for these men and woman who God calls to the challenge of church planting.

It’s true, God calls us in different ways. And there are many ways to further the mission of Jesus in the world.

Church planting…well there’s just nothing better if you ask me.

If God is calling you to plant, get assessed ASAP to determine if you have the competency, character and calling for starting a church. There are lots of organizations like NewThing out there to help you. Feel free to contact me. I’d love to hear your dream.

My Interview with Leadership Network – All About Leadership Residency

The church MUST be investing in the next generation of leaders if we are serious about movements. After all, it’s leadership residents (church planters in training) who are starting new works for the Kingdom.

One of our principles at NewThing is leadership residency. We have been investing in leadership residents since the founding of our movement. Now we are taking it the next level. My friend Warren Bird at Leadership Network recently interviewed me about our residency. Check out the full interview.

Here’s a video excerpt from that interview.

If you’re interested in doing a leadership residency at a NewThing church, please contact me and let’s talk about helping you start something new!

Will you be at Expo? If so, you need to come and check out our BONUS Session at Exponential all about leadership residency with our friends at Stadia.
